In 1948, Vitry, a small suburb of Paris, France, Berco Grimbert created an electronics company called Societe Electronique de Vitry, or SEVY for short. Soon, a friend of Grimbert's from New York commissioned SEVY to produce high frequency welding machines capable of fusing a new material called PVC (poly vinyl chloride). SEVY's machines worked very well and the American friend developed a very successful business manufacturing swimming pool related products. He then taught SEVY how to work with PVC. One of the first PVC products SEVY produced was inflatable bathtub called Dou Dou. It was an instant hit in postwar France - mothers could bathe their children even where no facilities were available. The media hailed Dou Dou as a significant invention. Soon, SEVY added small pools and flotation devices such as rings, beach balls, and inflatable swim jackets to its product line. Safe, hygienic products, made of PVC and designed for portability, durability and convenience, became the SEVY trademark. The company quickly outgrew its small facilities in Vitry. Mr. Grimbert accepted an attractive offer from the French government to take over a defunct textile factor in the tiny Alsatian village of Buhl. After establishing its new headquarters, the company added the letters "lor" to its name, and became Sevylor. In French, l'or means gold. By coincidence, or possibly fate, Sevylor has proven to be "as good as gold" to its owners, retailers, consumers and employees. Now based in Orange County, California.

Our showroom, sales and administrative office consists of 6,000 sq. ft. Nautica International owns both locations and expansion of our facilities is planned.

Seair, Inc. was first formed in Orlando, Florida in 1997. The original company designed and produced the first Seair Flying Boat. Our current owner Ed purchased one of the very first Seair Flying Boats in February of 2000. After purchasing his flying boat, and flying for a few months, Ed got a call from the Seair owners when their trainer/pilot quit. Seair needed a new pilot to fly the Seair in a children's video ("The Critter Gitters' Manatee Mission"). Ed left two days later for Florida, and performed as stunt pilot in this video. While he was in Florida, Ed started working with Seair to make some improvements to the Flying Boat. The owners of the company were not pilots, and eventually started to lose interest in improving the Flying Boat, so Ed bought the company, and formed Seair, LLC.
Ed immediately stopped all sales of the Flying Boat so that he could redesign it to be safer and sturdier. This lead to the aluminum hull that you find on the Seair Flying Boat today, as well as several other major changes. The current design was in development for the majority of a year, and initial production began in late 2001, with the first sales in early 2002.
