"Klaus and I first discovered the Helwig Haus in September 93 on our way
home from Sydney. It was the best B/B place one could imagine with its
nice surroundings, beautiful cottage garden and country charm. The place
was cosy and inviting.
We liked the Helwig hospitality so much, that we brought other guests
along. Fay was able to tell us about that part of Queensland and the
attractions around there. She has a vast knowledge of the plant and wild
life of that area and has lots of interesting stories to tell.
We have chosen their place so many times, that I have lost count. I
believe it would be at least 17 times. That speaks for itself.
Because of the personal touch I cannot recommend it enough. I say that
from the bottom of my heart!

Some years ago I read about the Granite Belt in South East Queensland.
As one of the few places where we have not been, we became very keen to
see it. Doing a bit of research I realised that the area has a "Brass
Monkey" season in the winter.
Continuing my reading about Warwick and Stanthorpe I saw "Das Helwig
Haus" mentioned and made a booking.
Our 5 day holiday spent there very much surpassed our expectations.
There are several National parks in the area, easy to access. Wineries
and various farms can be visited. Our host and hostess, Eberhard and
Fay, went out of their way with their hospitality, providing a very
comfortable bed, beautiful breakfasts and a lovely garden. Fay is also
well known for her poppy field at Remembrance Day in November.
Highly recommended.
