You may dream
of a cold Christmas
Morning frost
crunching under your feet.
Your breath
steaming over a hot mug of mulled wine.
The aroma of
roast goose wafting from the kitchen.
Make your
dreams a reality and book with Fay for a Granite Belt Christmas this winter
season.
You will sleep
in comfort – the beds are superb
Accommodation in the guest wing of the main house comprises 2
charming queen-size bedrooms with en suites and 2 double rooms with adjacent
private bathrooms, a snug TV- library room and lounge room with wood
fireplace. The warm comfort of this wing allows you and your friends to
socialise together around a crackling fire. Each room overlooks spring
flowering snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells in Fay’s remarkable cottage
garden.

The four self-contained apartments have a queen size double
bed and a single bed, en suites, a kitchenette, TV, recliner chairs and wood
fires. French doors open onto a wide veranda and covered car parking is
provided at the rear.

Fay, your
hostess.
Fay’s Grandfather was born in Stanthorpe in 1876, so your
hostess has a long association with the region. In 1997 Fay’s contribution
to tourism was recognised with the Tourism Ambassador Award for her ongoing
promotion of the Southern Downs – Granite Belt region.
You will taste
the cultural difference – the food is unique
Fay established a reputation as a prize winning country show
cook prior to marrying her German born husband, Eberhard. To differentiate
their B&B from others within Australia, Fay has chosen to honour her
husband’s heritage with a German style hot buffet breakfast. This meal is
served on heavily laden tables in the main dining room. Produce from the
organic garden is presented as fruit compote, jams, jellies and marmalades
along with muesli & porridge, sausages, ham & eggs, and home baked wholemeal
bread toasted or fresh bread rolls. This is a unique breakfast that you will
long remember.
You may
experience at your leisure
Stroll down to the river where platypus have been sighted or
admire the geese swimming on farm dams.

You will relax
in this tranquil retreat and never want to leave
Patches the black and white cat came to stay three years
ago. Das Helwig Haus is situated on a 14 hectare farm one quiet kilometre
from the New England Highway and is in a central location amongst the
Granite Belt wineries. Relax quietly on a veranda with a book, sit beside
the river with a fishing line or save yourself the driving and book a winery
tour. Guests are collected daily at Das Helwig Haus for half or full day
tours.
